MAKE THAT CONNECTION HAPPEN

Social Thinking classes for teenagers and young adults with Aspergers syndrome, high functioning Autism and related challenges that have difficulty with learning and applying social information that is important throughout their life.

Don’t take social development for granted!

Allow individuals to begin their new journey on the road map to success.

Aren’t they worth it?

What is Social Thinking?

Social Thinking skills are cognitive skills that allow individuals to adapt to social behaviors and interact with people they work and live with. Successful social thinkers consider points of view, emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and the intentions of others

Learning functional skills does not guarantee success in the “Real World”.  As they become adults, it is important they learn to think about the social needs of a situation, and learn the skills needed to adapt and succeed in any social situation they want to explore!

Who is Social Thinking For?

This class is designed for students with social cognitive deficits with near normal to above average verbal and non-verbal intelligence. This population would include: High Functioning Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disabilities, Aspergers Syndrome, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, students with head injuries, Tourette Syndrome, etc.

The Social Thinking History

Michelle Garcia Winner MA, CCC, developed the Social Thinking treatment approach for individuals with high functioning Autism. (www.socialthinking.com)

“A friendship will not progress if your adolescent doesn’t understand emotions of others, how to respond appropriately and how to manage their own emotions.” Jill Kuzma
